Motorista escapa de ser multado por radar de velocidade graças a pássaro que passa na frente de sua face

Pigeon Car Speed Radar Camera Viersen Germany Deutschland

How did an American Ford Granada compare in tests of smoothness and quietness of ride with a US$ 20,000 German Mercedes?

How did an American Ford Granada compare in tests of smoothness and quietness of ride with a US$ 20,000 German Mercedes?
Read how German engineers rated both cars after 7 days of testing.
For 1977, a new Ford Granada was brought to Germany for a scientific ride comparison with a Mercedes-Benz 450SE (U.S. sticker price: $20,6891. The Granada was a standard produc-tion car equipped with optional 250CID engine ($122.) and automatic transmission ($186.). To test for ''riding smoothness'' the German engineers drove the Granada and the Mercedes at various speeds over a variety of roads in northern Germany, ranging from cobblestone to smooth highway. Test 2: Quietness test. In the next series of tests the cars were evaluated for ''quiet-ness'' of ride. Again, they were compared over a variety of Ger-man road surfaces at speeds from 30.55 mph. A new Volkswagen is cheaper at twice the price.

A new Volkswagen is cheaper at twice the price.
How's that for an outrageous claim? A new VW at around $1775 (depending on accessories) costs less than a 4-year-old Something Else at $850. We knew you wouldn't believe it. So we've proved it. Let's soy you plan to keep your next car 5 years land drive to total of 75,000 miles). Here's how it might work out: Klew Usc.cl VolkswagEvi Sarnctiuktri Els, 3.- 750 &cis G. 32041 Itf(2s,(29,„,,{3o1.) 1, o CO (15 miAaf 28 112 336 0,,,cxx, Nufs kt.) So you're at least $131 ahead if you buy the VW. (We didn't even count the extra $100 it saves on lower insurance and registration fees in many states.) If you buy the new VW, you won't hove to worry about why the first owner sold it. (And you won't hove to pay for the expensive ailments that con hit an old Something Else.) Now then. We don't have to crystal ball, but today's market is an inter-esting clue to the future. After 5 years, the used car will probably be to 9-year-old candidate for the junk heap. But the VW will probably just be reaching its prime. (Check the classified ads and you'll find 5-year-old VWs selling for $600 to $900, depending on the shape they're in.) But you con do much better than that: Don't sell your VW at all. (Think of the money you'll save by driving it for another 5 years.)

What you don't know about the compact field can cost you US$ 505!

The difference between Falcon and other compacts? For one thing, many of the others are not compact . . . in size . . . or price! So beware—
What you don't know about the compact field can cost you '505!
In all the confusion of so many new compacts its hard to tell who's got what. Even more important, its hard to tell who is really compact and who is not. A good place to begin is price. And the best car to start with is Ford's Falcon ... because the compact field actually starts with America's lowest-priced. 6-passenger car ... the Falcon!
Magnificent upholstery? Falcon has it all as standard equipment ... at no extra cost! Where these new-name compacts are bigger is outside . . . just where you don't want it! Most of them are over half a foot longer, as well as wider and up to 500 pounds heavier than Falcon. With so much excess, they don't handle as easily as Falcon. And they certainly need rnore parking space. Fact is, they need up to 61/2 square feet more parking area. They also need bigger engines to tote around all this extra weight. And bigger engines need more gas. Falcon has proved it goes up to 30 miles on a gallon of regular gas. Falcon is the True Compact! To be sure, we could have made the Falcon big-ger outside. We could have endowed it with un-limited horsepower. But this defeats the whole purpose of a compact. You lose that unbeatable Falcon gas mileage. You lose that inimitable Falcon handling. And of course, you lose a lot of parking spots. We felt Falcon was right—right from the start. We felt this way because we already knew how the American people felt. They gave Falcon the biggest vote of approval in automotive history when 425,000 of them bought Falcon in its first year alone. In 1960 Falcon has actually sold more cars than two of its low-priced com-petitors combined . . . even outsold an entire corporation singlehandedly! 'This was the great-est first-year success any car ever had. America liked Falcon—and we mean to keep it so! In fact, America found Falcon so totally de-pendable, so thoroughly reliable, that we can make this historic announcement:

The Big Compact Difference! When you sit down and figure out just how much lower Falcon's price really is—you discover the first big difference. Falcon is actually priced as much as $505 less than comparable new-name compacts introduced just a its weeks ago.
Surprised? You have a right to be. What has happened in the compact field is this: There are high-priced compacts, there are medium-priced compacts, • there are low-priced compacts—and then there's Ford's Falcon, lowest priced of all six-passenger cars ... as much as $505 below the top!
Pay more? What for! This $505 difference assumes even larger pro-portions when you consider what it buys. True, these new -narne, high-priced compacts are larger than Falcon. But where are they larger? Not inside! They give you no more living room than Falcon. In kg room, hip room, shoulder room—in all these important measure-ments—Falcon seats 6 big people with all the comfort of the highest-priced compacts.
Seats them in luxury, too! Coat hooks? Arm rests? Sun visors? Foam-padded front seats?
Every 1961 Falcon is warranted by your dealer for 12,000 miles or 1 full year, whichever comes first!t The Falcon is that good!
If you are in the market foss compact ... and not a compromise ... see the 1961 Falcon and see if this isn't everything you had in mind. FORD DIVISION. Jtrr/A4,61154a,
ONLY FALCON COMBINES EVERYTHING YOU WANT IN A COMPACT

Five professional nitpickers criticize the AMC Javelin.

Five professional nitpickers criticize the Javelin.
''Javelin is a world apart from the other ponycars in styling, comfort, space and features...the car turned andcornered as if it were nailed to the road...Nearly every interior dimension is larger than its com-petitors, and three in the full width back seat is a reality...Performance of our test car was just short of surprising...Too few cars have brakes equal to the optional front disc/rear drum power units on the Javelin...'' —Motor Trend, January,1968
''BRAND NEW IMAGE BUSTER...trans-mission responds well to hard active operation and the synchromesh is all but faultless...driving the Javelin is an inter-esting and satisfying experience...the ability to bring a howl from the rear wheels in any of the lower gears is undeniably exciting...the Javelin has a lot of things going for it...'' —Car Life, December,1967 ''AN EXCITING NEW SPORTSTER...A real racy-looking car...shows up well on the road-handling course...fun to drive...
particularly liked the action of the optional power steering...The Javelin reacts almost the same at high speed as it does during low-speed maneuvers.'' —Popular Science Monthly, September,1967
''AN AMERICAN DREAM...seat is sur-prisingly soft...On long series of tight right—and left hand curves, the quick response, the time it took to go from one steady state to another, was pleasingly impressive...Javelin's brakes were all we could want ...optional heavy-duty suspen-sion and wide tread tires really work won-ders...you could feel and even control the point at which tire adhesion gave way...'' —Hot Rod Magazine, December,1967 ''FRONT END OF JAVELIN IS MEAN LOOKING...Fresh, clean lines and a lux-urious interior...interior appointments very comfortable and well-laid out...visi-bility forward is excellent...has a lot more legroom than is generally associated with pony cars...'' —Motorcade, November,1967 American Motors

Since it isn't exactly a beauty contest, what makes Simca so great? Simca isn't likely to out-chrome any-body. Not even VW. And we'll be the first to admit that VW is our equal in some other respects. Simca has bucket seats. So does VW. We've got a 4-on-the-floor. They do too. Both have rear en-gines. Both get great gas mileage. But that's where the similarities end and Simca's great-to-have differences begin. You get four doors with Simca,
not just two. So you don't have to line up to get in. Or play musical chairs getting out. You get a squared-off look that pays off in extra space where it's nice to have. Inside the car. Inside the trunk. Simca gets you more punch from the petrol. Via more horsepower. (Grrr.) So don't expect to hear ''move over'' horns on the highway. You also won't be hearing ''brrrr''

"It was the only thing to do after the mule died."

''It was the only thing to do after the mule died.''
Three years bock, the Hinsleys of Dora, Missouri, had a tough decision to rnake. To buy a new mule. Or invest in o used bug. They weighed the two possibilities. First there coos the problem of the bit-ter Ozark winters. Tough on a warm-blooded mule. Not so tough on an air-cooled VW.
Then, what about the eating habits of the two contenders? Hay vs. gasoline. As Mr. Hinsley puts it: ''I get over eighty miles Oct of a dollar's worth of gas and I get where I want to go a lot quicker.'' Then there's the road leading to their cabin. Many a mule pulling a wagon and many a conventional automobile has spent many an hour stuck in the mud. As for shelter, a mule needs o born. A
bug doesn't. ''It just sets out there all day and the paint job looks near as good as the day we got it.'' Finally, there was maintenance to think about. When a mule breaks down, there's only one thing to do: Shoot it. But if and when their bug breaks down, the Hinsleys have a Volkswagen dealer only two gallons away.

Pigeon Speed Camera Photo Car Radar Pombo

The American Motors AMX. It takes more than money to get one.

The American Motors AMX. It takes more than money to get one. If you can find an AMX, we'll sell you one. But as this message goes to press, less than 2,000 AMX's have been produced. And we, Amencan Motors, will only make about 8,000 more this year. You see the difficulty. Even if you have the $3,245' necessary to buy an AMX, you may get a lot of exercise before you ever get close enough to pay for one. Ah, but the thrill of being the first man in your state to own one will surely be surpassed by the thrill of being the first man in your state to drive one. A two-seater, the AMX gives you the ease of maintenance associated with a family sedan, com-bined with the sheer fun and maneuverability of a foreign sports car. In fact, its incredibly uncomplex design means that, once the optional 390 engine is broken in, you could roll right onto a race track and be ready to do about 130 mph. In pure stock form—without special engine modifications. Specially equipped AMX's with modified engines broke 106 USAC speed records. And while there are cars on the road that are faster than the AMX, we hasten to add that beating other drivers isn't the AMX's main appeal. It's the way the car reacts to you as you drive, not the usual dull split second later. You get out of lane, pass the car in front and get back in lane in one sure motion. Because the AMX offers one of the fastest steering wheel ratios of any U.S.-built car, it turns, corners, follows your direction simultaneously. Being a sports car, the AMX is sports-car sized. So, while the inside isn't much of a place to hold meetings, it will hold a lot of other things.
The trunk is a lot bigger than you'd expect a sports car trunk to be. Because we didn't fill it with a big spare tire. We gave you The Airless Spare. When you need it, it ''wwhhh000sshh!'' inflates. The Airless Spare is nice because it doesn't fill up your trunk with air that you don't need. It's something every car should have. But then, every car should have a lot of things. Things like a short throw, all-syncromesh 4-on-the-floor, fiberglass belted wide-profile tires, shoulder harness seat belts, tachometer, aircraft-type instru-ment panel, energy-absorbing steering column, heavy-duty springs and shocks. To mention only a few of the AMX's standard features. Another un-standard standard feature is the production number that will be set in the AMX dash when you (if you find one) buy it. AMX 00001 through AMX 10,000. While this number may mean a lot to collectors in the years ahead, we do want to point out one thing. All AMX's are made with the same attention and quality. And while possessing a lower number may have a sentimental or prestige value, it does not in any way make one AMX better than another. Just as possessing an AMX does not make one man better than another. Just luckier. Of the fifty different kinds of small cars sold in Europe, Fiat sells more than anybody. This becomes even more meaningful when you consider that Fiat's success with Europeans is based on three generations of driving these various cars. And driving them under conditions that run all the way from the sub-zero winters of Sweden to the Alpine roads of northern Italy to the traffic jams of Paris to the no speed limit, free-for-all driving of the German autobahn. Beautiful shape for the 1965 Chevrolet Chevelle. New ride, new style and an engine that makes any driver feel young.

New Malibu Super Sport Coupe in Regal Red, one of 13 new Chevelle colors for '65.

Beautiful shape for the 1965 Chevrolet Chevelle. New ride, new style and an engine that makes any driver feel young.
On one hand, the '65 Chevelle makes you feel settled and wise and rich with its smooth new ride and plushness all about. But then on the other hand, there's a frisky power story! '
There are enough changes in this '65 Chevelle to make it look and act like another whole new car from Chevrolet. The front's been restyled. So has the back. The interiors are done up in some of the richest looking vinyls and fabrics around. The ride is amazing. We've pat-terned Chevelle's Full Coil suspen-sion after those in cars costing far more. And if you'd like to hear how quietly it rides with its softer springs
and extra body insulation, just put your fingers in your ears and listen. As for that frisky power, you get it in either of two V8's you can add, ranging all the way up to 300 horsepower. That makes five engines for Chevelle now, including the stand-ard 120-hp Hi-Thrift Six (which doesn't exactly poke along). And the list of special options and accessories you can order goes on and on. Four-speed manual shift. Auto-
matic Powerglide. A luxurious vinyl roof cover for the Sport Coupes. A new AM-FM Stereo radio that makes you think the musicians them-selves came with the car. Twelve Chevelle models in four series to choose from for '65 — and all available with big V8's! . . . Chevrolet Division of General Motors, Detroit, Michigan.
