Por um lado, estava animado, por outro, desapontado, porque eu queria um carro que precisasse de alguma coisa para ajeitar. Eu queria aquela experiência de colocar a mão na massa. Então eu vendi a picape e comprei uma 1978 Blazer que tinha kit de suspensão que ergueu o carro em dez centímetros e pneus de 36 polegadas. Era um grande carro, eu mesmo fiz tudo nele. Fiz a carroceria e a pintura na escola de tecnologia, onde fui mestre de carpintaria.

Eu estava na universidade, e a um mes da minha graduação, a Ferrari fez alguns testes preliminares no túnel de vento da Universidade Politécnica de Milão, e Enzo Ferrari perguntou ao professor se havia algum jovem que pudesse ajudar. O professor me perguntou se eu estava interessado. Claro! Se você é italiano e a Ferrari pergunta por você, então este é o sonho a ser realizado.
