Numa tarde de domingo, Alois Ruf Sr. estava parado em um sinal vermelho, a bordo de seu Porsche 356 Karmann Hardtop, quando alguém parou a seu lado e disse que queria comprar o carro. Ambos foram até a casa do comprador, que pagou pelo carro em dinheiro vivo, que estava dentro de uma caixa de doces.

Então, o comprador emprestou a Alois Ruf Sr. outro Porsche para obter a documentação necessária. Alois Ruf Jr. relembra esta história: "este pessoal da Porsche deve ser louco, tudo é diferente com estas pessoas".
