Durante a qualificação para o GP de Jerez de la Frontera, o piloto Cal Crutchlow, da equipe Team LCR, estava fazendo suas voltas rápidas, quando começa a se debater em seu peito, clavícula e braço esquerdo.

Crutchlow, então, teve que parar sua motocicleta na beira da pista. O piloto disse que foi picado cinco vezes por uma vespa.

Apesar do inusitado imprevisto, Cal se classificou em terceiro lugar para o grid de largada. Dani Pedrosa venceu a prova. Marc Marquez e Jorge Lorenzo completaram o pódio.
