Após a morte de Carroll Shelby, em maio, aos 89 anos, todos os objetos que eram de seu pertence ganharam ainda mais valor, principalmente um 2009 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500KR, que foi produzido para celebrar o aniversário de 85 anos de Carroll, e essa unidade pertenceu ao próprio, que a usava pessoalmente no rancho em que vivia.

Outra exclusividade do carro é a assinatura de Carroll no painel. O carro será leiloado pela Vicari Auction, nos dias 12 e 13 de outubro, no Mississippi, Estados Unidos. O preço inicial é de 120 mil dólares. O chassi #445 tem menos de 2.500 quilômetros rodados e, depois de Shelby, já teve outro dono.

A empresa garante que o vencedor do leilão receberá uma cópia da documentação do veíulo com o nome de Carroll Shelby impresso, além do certificado de autenticidade do veículo e a nota fiscal de venda para o dono atual.

Desde 2008, após o Ford Mustang Shelby GT500KR foi revelado ao público no Salão de Nova York, foram produzidas 1.712 unidades, equipadas com um motor 5.4 V8 sobrealimentado por supercharger, o que faz o carro produzir 547 CV, aliados à uma transmissão manual de seis marchas. Esta versão foi feita para comemorar os 40 anos do Ford Mustang.

A Shelby American lançou a versão 2013 do Shelby Mustang GT350, modelo que recebeu novas rodas, opções de cores e opcionais, como teto de vidro panorâmico e assentos Recaro. Apenas 350 unidades serão produzidas.

O GT350 tem dez opções de pintura e pode oferecer três níveis de potência, todas utilizando o motor 5.0 V8 como base. Depois da preparação, o propulsor pode gerar 430, 525 ou 624 CV, de acordo com que o cliente pediu. Além disso, estão à venda freios de alta performance.

LAS VEGAS – June 28, 2012 – Shelby American, a wholly owned subsidiary of Carroll Shelby International Inc. (CSBI:PK), has announced the changes for its limited edition 2013 Shelby GT350. New color options, visual styling cues and optional performance upgrades will distinguish the third model year of Shelby GT350 production from previous model year cars. The 2013 Shelby GT350 will be available as either a coupe or convertible in the entire color palette offered by Ford Motor Company on the Mustang.

"The Shelby GT350 is one of the world's most celebrated and iconic modern muscle cars," said John Luft, president of Shelby American. "For the third model year of the contemporary Shelby GT350, we've further refined the car with options and equipment requested by enthusiasts. The Shelby American team is following Carroll Shelby's playbook to continue building high performance cars and parts designed to keep our customers at the front of the fast lane."

For the first (2011) model year Shelby GT350, the coupes were clad in white with blue stripes, just as Shelby American did with the initial car in 1965. In 2012, three more colors (red, blue and anniversary black/gold), as well as a convertible option were offered; this is similar to the options offered by Shelby American in 1966.

For the 2013 model year, Shelby American again matches tradition with expanded color options, equipment choices and styling changes, while performance improvements remain intact. The GT350 will be available in all of Ford's standard colors offered on the Mustang: Grabber Blue, Sterling Gray Metallic, "Gotta Have It" Green, Candy Red Tint Coat Metallic, Ingot Silver Metallic, "Deep Impact" Blue Metallic (replaces Kona Blue Metallic), Race Red, Performance White and Black. Customers can choose between Satin Black or Gloss White stripes (a first since 1970) or Azure Blue Metallic on Performance White and Ingot Silver Metallic vehicles to be paired with new wheels in Satin Black or Bright Silver Metallic. Other styling cues for 2013 include a glass roof option, Recaro Seats and a modified custom rear valance.

"The Shelby GT350's rich history is well-documented," added Shelby American Vice President of Production Gary Davis. "People who value that heritage asked us to repeat Shelby history with new options this year. We did that and stayed true to our commitment for performance with a no-comprise car that honors Carroll Shelby and our past."

The Shelby GT350 is a post-title program based on the Ford Mustang GT. The 2013 Shelby GT350 performance specs will be continued from the 2012 model year. Customers can choose a 430 HP normally aspirated, and either a Ford Racing supercharged 525 HP or 624 HP version. An automatic transmission is optional with the normally aspirated engine, while a short throw shifter is standard for the manual on any of the models. For 2013, options include a one piece drive shaft, more powerful brakes, cooling enhancements, interior upgrades and a color coordinated billet aluminum engine cap set. A new cold air package for the normally aspirated engine will be available to boost the GT350's output to about 450 horsepower.

The 2013 Shelby GT350 post-title package starts at $26,995.00 (normally aspirated) and $33,995.00 (supercharged), not including the base car. Only 350 of the cars will be built, all at the Shelby American factory in Las Vegas. 2012 GT350's are still available with great incentive's being offered for the base vehicle by Ford. Carroll Hall Shelby era estadunidense, foi piloto automobilistico e empreendedor. Foi o fundador da Shelby American, que criou lendas do asfalto, como o Shelby Mustang e o Shelby Cobra nos anos 1960 e 1970.

Filho de Warren Shelby, um carteiro de Leesburg, e Eloise Lawrence, mudou-se para Dallas, onde concluiu a escola secundária. Alistou-se na Força Aérea, combatendo na 2º Guerra Mundial, atuando como instrutor de vôo e piloto de testes. Casou-se e teve o primeiro de seus filhos durante a guerra. Dallas – May 11, 2012 – Carroll Shelby International, Inc., (OTC: CSBI.PK) announced today that Carroll Hall Shelby, a man whose vision for performance transformed the automobile industry, has died at age 89. Mr. Shelby passed away yesterday at Baylor Hospital in Dallas. The cause of death was not disclosed.

Born on Jan. 11, 1923, Carroll Shelby was one of America's greatest success stories. Championship-winning racecar driver, "flying sergeant" wartime pilot, philanthropist, entrepreneur, car manufacturer and racing team owner, he embodied the ingenuity, tenacity and grit to overcome any obstacle. He is perhaps the only person to have worked at a visible level with all three major American automobile manufacturers.
Carroll Shelby founded Carroll Shelby International, a publicly held corporation involved in many industries. His licensing arm has agreements with industry giants, such as Mattel, Sony, Ford Motor Company and Electronic Arts. His car company, Shelby American, has a thriving parts business as well as a line of muscle cars including the Shelby GT500 Super Snake, Shelby GT350 and Shelby GTS. The Las Vegas-based company also manufactures a limited number of the 1960s Shelby 289 "street," 289 FIA, 427 S/C and Daytona Coupe Cobras.

Shelby considered his greatest achievement to be the establishment of the Carroll Shelby Foundation™. Created in 1992 while Shelby was waiting for a heart transplant, the charity is dedicated to providing medical assistance for those in need, including children, educational opportunities for young people through automotive and other training programs and benefitting the Carroll Shelby Automotive Foundation.

Shelby remained active in the management of each of his companies and the Foundation until his death, even though he endured both heart and kidney transplants in the last two decades of his life.

"We are all deeply saddened, and feel a tremendous sense of loss for Carroll's family, ourselves and the entire automotive industry," said Joe Conway, president of Carroll Shelby International, Inc. and board member. "There has been no one like Carroll Shelby and never will be. However, we promised Carroll we would carry on, and he put the team, the products and the vision in place to do just that."

Shelby is survived by his three children Patrick, Michael and Sharon, his sister Anne Shelby Ellison of Fort Worth and his wife Cleo. Funeral plans are not currently available.
