Leadfoot loses Mobilgas Economy Run, takes second (gets only 23.0156 miles per gallon).

LEADFOOT LOSES MOBILGAS ECONOMY RUN TAKES 2ND [GETS ONLY 23.0156 MILES PER GALLON)
Woody Bell, of Sunland, California, is a darned good driver. That's why he was picked to drive Dodge Dart in this year's Mobilgas Economy Run. He was speci-fically told to drive barefoot, so he'd be more sensitive to the accelerator. He was supposed to keep his windows shut, too. (Cuts down on wind resistance.) But he goofed. He piled in ... clodhoppers and all. Fastened his seat belt (he's very safety-minded). Rolled down the windows. Draped an elbow over the sill. And took off . . . with an automatic transmission yet! Also a radio, heater, and defroster.
Says he likes to drive a car the way most folks do. He likes to be comfortable ... not professional. Needless to say, 01' Leadfoot and Dodge Dart didn't win. But Dart was a good ... and economical loser. It averaged 23.0156 MPG. for the six-day grind. And only missed being first in its class (class D) by 00.1384 MPG. This is no surprise since Chrysler Corporation cars, including Dodge, have been consistent economy run winners over the past several years. And, you know, Dart is a full size Dodge priced model for model with Ford and Chevrolet. That's not bad either ...
if you're interested in real can value. See Dart at your Dodge Dealer. And take a look at Lancer, too. That's the new Dodge compact. Both will economize for you on regular gasoline. Both offer a choice of engines. Both have an alternator, which unlike common generators, charges even at idle. Makes the battery last far longer than it otherwise would. Both have uni-tized bodies, and are protected against rust with the best anti-corrosion process in the business. Standard or compact. The choice is all yours. Either way, you get a great deal with Dodge! Come see!

A provocative challenge to directors of America's major corporations
In the next few days, you and the executive officers of your firm will be invited to accept new Imperials for personal comparison with your present cars. Since you probably own one or more luxury cars, you'll quickly note differences about an Imperial. Its quiet elegance. The unusual spaciousness. The deeper comfort and silence as you drive. These are unique; for only Imperial's body is both full-sized and unshared with lesser cars. You'll recognize subtle differences, too. The reasons for our reputation as a superlative road car. The advantages of the world's largest automatic-adjusting brakes. The thoughtful little luxuries—such as an inside control for the outside mirror, and power windows as standard equipment.
There's no end, really, to the discoveries you might make. (Open the glove compartment, and you'll find a brochure with all the facts about the first 5-year/50,000-mile warranty* ever offered on a luxury car.) All we ask is that you test our Imperial thoroughly for the qualities you want in a fine car. So, if you read our offer as a direct challenge, we'll be delighted. Our dealer has an Imperial ready for you; just call him to reserve a time. Then, judge for yourself.
