1995 Mercedes-Benz Lotec C1000

MERCEDES-BENZ SUPERCARS, RARE 300SL GULLWING JOIN ROSTER OF VEHICLES CROSSING THE BLOCK AT RK MOTORS CAR AUCTION

One-Off, 268mph Lotec Mercedes-Benz C1000; Ultra-Rare Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR Roadster; and 1954 300SL Gullwing Among More Than 40 Handpicked Vehicles to be Featured in Special Simulcast on Nov. 2

Charlotte, N.C. – October 21, 2013— RK Motors Collector Car Auctions (RKMCCA) today announced it has added a pair of high performance Mercedes-Benz supercars and an ultra-rare 300SL Gullwing to its lineup of investment-grade vehicles hitting the auction block October 31 to November 3 at the Charlotte Convention Center.

The three Mercedes will be among more than 40 hand-picked vehicles to be auctioned during a real-time, four-hour auction event that will be simulcast to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on November 2. This debut event will take place at the 7-star Emirates Palace Hotel, adjacent to the world-class Abu Dhabi Formula One track, on the evening preceding the 2013 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

RKMCCA will offer a one-of-a-kind 1995 Mercedes-Benz Lotec C1000, which was commissioned by a United Arab Emirates-based businessman who had envisioned owning the world’s fastest street-legal car. To accommodate that request, the vehicle was equipped with a 5.6-liter twin-turbocharged Mercedes-Benz V8 engine with twin Garrett turbos generating 1000hp, achieving zero-to-60mph in 2.8 seconds, and an astonishing top-speed of 268mph. A Hewland 6-speed transmission is responsible for transferring all that power to the ground.

Aerodynamically, the C1000’s flawless, flowingly designed body is surprisingly light, with a total curb weight of only 2,381 pounds. Stunning aesthetics are similarly evident inside the C1000. The supercar’s doors open vertically and reveal a bright red and black carbon fiber interior. Two bucket racing style seats are equipped with 3-point harnesses to protect the driver and passenger at break-neck speeds. Additional features include air conditioning, adjustable pedals, adjustable steering column, and a luggage compartment.

RKMCCA will also auction a 2002 Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR, which traces its roots to the purpose-built, FIA GT-champion racing machine of the late 1990s. Required to build an FIA-mandated 25 road versions of their CLK GTR racecar, Mercedes-Benz and AMG specialist group H.W.A made a total of 26 CLK GTRs. One of only six roadsters, the CLK GTR (chassis #3) has just 71 original miles, and has remained in pristine condition. Recently, the current owner flew two team members from the original build to fully service the car.

Powered by a 6.9L V-12 that pumps out an incredible 604 hp and 572 lb-ft of torque, the CLK GTR is capable of zero-to-60mph in just 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 199mph.

Finally, RKMCCA will offer a 1954 Mercedes-Benz 300SLGullwing, which helped visionary importer Leopold Poldi Bentley establish and build momentum for the Mercedes brand among enthusiasts in Western Canada, and paved the way for the establishment of Bentley’s Vancouver-based Mercedes-Benz Distributor West Ltd.

The stunning silver-on-red Gullwing was eventually sold in 1956, and remained in that owner’s possession for 50 years. In the early 1990’s care of the Gullwing was entrusted to noted 300 SL restorer Rudi Koniczek and his team at Rudi and Company in Vancouver. Since then, Rudi and Company have kept the car in exceptional, original running condition, have repainted the exterior and restored its interior leather and headliner.

With only 45,687 original miles on its odometer, the four-speed Gullwing comes with its original belly pans, tools, books, and optional Nardi steering wheel.

“Since its inception, Mercedes-Benz has represented the very finest in European elegance, styling and performance,” said Bill Mathews, executive vice president of RK Motors Collector Car Auctions. “Bidding on these cars will be especially enticing not only for Mercedes enthusiasts, but for any collector looking for extremely rare, noteworthy vehicles.”

Taking place October 31 to November 3 at the Charlotte Convention Center, the RK Motors Collector Car Auction will feature hundreds of investment-grade muscle, race and rare European collector cars. Additional information is accessible at www.rkmcca.com.
