O belga Raphael van der Straeten criou o que ele denominou como VDS GT 001, um supercarro baseado no Gillet Vertigo, e que possui um motor Maserati V8 4.2, que produz 480 CV de potência e impulsiona um sistema de transmissão sequencial de seis velocidades.

Ainda não há dados oficiais sobre performance. Apenas 22 unidades do veículo serão produzidas, a um preço individual também não declarado. Muitas partes da carroceria são feitas em fibra de carbono, para garantir mais leveza ao conjunto, que pesa 990 kg. O chassi original do Gillet Vertigo é feito de Nomex® e carbono.

O criador do VDS GT 001 foi piloto por vários anos, com um Ford Mustang FR500 GT3, e também está produzindo uma versão R do modelo, somente para as pistas, mais leve e mais potente.
