After 76 years of making sports cars, it's hard to make something dull.

WHERE we come from, a car is not made to drive you to the super-market. A car is made to drive you to ecstasy. That the ecstasy happens on the way to the supermarket is incidental. This attitude about driv-ing led us in our early years to build sports cars. Over the first quarter of this

Spider. And our mid-engine Fiat X1/9. But as we got into the family car business we didn't leave this attitude behind. As a result, our sedans drive quite unlike other sedans. There's a tightness, and a quickness, and a way they sit on the road that's uniquely Fiat. How can a sedan feel like a sports car you ask? Only one way. Build it like one. Both the 131 Sedan and

One of the few luxury sedans in the world that wouldn't be laughed off the Nürburgring. The BMW 530i. The Ultimate Driving Machine.
In the heart of Germany there is a race course called the Nurburgring. An awesome giant of a track, generally acknowledged t'o be the most arduous test of both cars and men. Yet, few cars—and certainly no luxury sedans—have achieved a more impressive record on the Nurburgring than those built by the Bavarian Motor Works in Munich, Germany. Luxury sedans? Yes. But lux-ury sedans built by racing engineers. German engineers who believe that extraordinary performance is the only thing that makes an expensive car worth the money. PERFECTED ON THE RACE TRACK. While it is, of course, feasible to develop an acceptable automo-

bile in the relative vacuum of the test track and the laboratory, it is virtually impossible to simulate the perfection demanded by motor racing. And the BMW 530i is a direct reflection of this cache of engineer-ing intelligence. Its suspension—independent on all four wheels—is quick and clean through the corners; its steer-ing sharp and accurate. Its four-speed manual trans-mission (automatic is available) slips precisely into each gear. Its acceleration comes up smoothly, with the turbine-like whine so characteristic of the justifiably renowned 3-liter BMW engine. And, while it provides all the luxury one could sanely require, the interior of the BMW 530i has been assiduously planned to facilitate
total, precise control at all times, under all conditions. Engineered to include the driver as one of the func-tioning parts of the car itself—the human part that completes the me-chanical circuit. So successful is this integra-tion of man and machine that the editors of Motor Trend magazine write, ''The reaction to a BMW is always the same. The first time driver takes the wheel and after a few minutes no other automobile will ever be the same again.'' If the thought of owning such a car intrigues you, call us anytime, toll-free, at 800-243-6000 (Conn.1-800- 882-6500) and we'll arrange a thorough test drive for you. THE ULTIMATE DRIVING MACHINE. It takes you just about anywhere within a 120 mile radius and back again! On one 13.7 gal. tank of gas. That's something you wouldn't expect from a bigger camp-ing vehicle. But this one gets over 19 miles per gallon! *Actual gas mileage, of course, depends on personal driving habits and road conditions. Not available in Hawaii and Utah.
(Tests, verified by an independent testing laboratory, were con-ducted over moun-tain roads, city streets and freeways in Southern California.) Yet, you still get the basics you expect in the bigger vehicles. Like a sink. A dinette. An ice box. Carpeting. And a couple of beds. It's fully integrated, too. Montego is a better car than you could buy 12 years ago. We had to go way back to 1959 to find a car that even comes close to Montego for value. In fact, Montego gives you lots more. It's built with better materials, new features, better ideas. Galvanized body steel resists rust twice as long. Baked acrylic enamel has a smoother, harder finish. Never needs waxing. Precision casting gives Montego a stronger, more efficient engine. Rear axle shaft steel is 30% stronger. Printed electrical circuits eliminate a fistful of wires in the instrument panel. Montego's tires are 40-50% more durable. Double-yoke door latches hold far tighter than the old rotary type. Many service-saving features (recommended 6,000 miles between oil and oil filter changes, 36,000 miles between major lubrications; self-adjusting brakes) help avoid frequent servicing. Who says they don't build cars like they used to?
Montego is a better car than other intermediates today. The Montego 2-door hardtop (above) is built on a wheelbase five inches longer than its leading competitors. Montego puts these extra inches to good use. Gives you a more comfortable ride. Room enough for 6 full-grown adults. A vacation-size trunk (16.2 cu. ft.). And traditional Mercury quality everywhere. Montego prices start at $2,763. You can buy a Montego 2-door hardtop or 4-door sedan with automatic transmission, V-8, AM radio and white sidewall tires—all ready to go—for under $3,300. Those are the manufacturer's suggested retail prices, for models and options listed. Excludes transportation charges, state and local taxes, license and title fees. A pretty good remedy for your shrinking dollar. Better ideas make better cars. Mercury makes better cars—to buy, rent or lease. A better idea for safety t Buckle up!

Olds makes you feel so young. Drive a youngmobile from Oldsmobile.

Olds makes you feel so young.
We decided to make Oldsmobile the youngest car on the road this year. And this new Delmont 88 is one example of how we did it. It is young in the way it looks, as you can see. Young in the way it acts. Bigger, more responsive Rocket V-8 engines are the reason. It delivers greater low-end torque for increased efficiency, increased economy, too. And it is young
in the way it rides, thanks to four-coil springs and a 123-inch wheelbase. But, like every one of the 31 new youngmobiles, Delmont 88 is pure Oldsmobile, too. It has all the quality and reliability and

advanced features you expect from Oldsmobile. At very young prices as well. And the full list of new General Motors safety items is standard. Stop in and see your dealer soon and give Olds young wheels a whirl.

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Jan. 27, 2020 – Parking in a crowded city was “wicked hahd”…until now.
